What Is a Random Pokémon Generator?

A random Pokémon generator selects one or more existing Pokémon at random. Optional filters narrow the pool before each pick.

Full pool1,025 PokémonOptional filters
GenerationGen 1–9Type18 typesResult1, 3, or 6 Pokémon

Leave every filter open for a completely random result, or narrow the pool by generation, type, category, ability, or base stat total. Each roll returns 1, 3, or 6 existing Pokémon without duplicate species.

Random Pokémon Generator

Picks existing Pokémon at random from the pool allowed by your filters.

Pokémon Randomizer

Changes encounters, starters, items, or other data inside a Pokémon game. This site does not modify games or ROM files.

Pokémon AI Generator

Creates new names, images, or creature concepts. This site only selects existing Pokémon and displays available artwork and data.

Data and Selection Rules

Learn where the data comes from, how the generator picks Pokémon, and what it does not check.

Data Source and Coverage

The local dataset is built from PokéAPI and covers 1,025 National Pokédex species plus supported Mega, Gigantamax, and regional forms.

How Random Selection Works

Your filters create an exact candidate pool. A seeded browser shuffle selects distinct species, and the complete result can be restored from its share URL.

Game Compatibility

A Pokémon’s generation shows when it was introduced, not every game where it is available. Check encounters, trades, evolution methods, version exclusives, and battle rules for your game.

Team Analysis Limits

The analysis checks species typing and base stats. It does not verify movesets, items, EVs, tournament legality, or format-specific balance.

Data coverage: 1,025 National Pokédex species through Gen 9 plus supported special forms. Last reviewed: .
Data source: PokéAPI. The generator and filters run locally in your browser; artwork still loads from the PokéAPI sprite repository. This independent fan-made site is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers about the available Pokémon, filters, results, and limits.

Is the random Pokémon generator free?

Yes. You can generate Pokémon without paying or creating an account.

How many Pokémon does the generator include?

The generator covers 1,025 National Pokédex species from Gen 1 through Gen 9. Default forms are included automatically. You can also add supported Mega Evolutions, Gigantamax forms, and regional forms.

Can I generate a full random Pokémon team?

Yes. Set the count to 6 or choose the Team of 6 preset. The generator returns six different species. Lock the picks you want to keep and reroll the rest.

Can I generate only Gen 1 Pokémon?

Yes. Select Gen 1 to limit the pool to the original 151 Pokémon. Generation means when a species was introduced, not whether it is available in a specific game.

Can I generate Pokémon by type or ability?

Yes. Select one or more of the 18 types, or enter an ability such as Levitate or Intimidate. A dual-type Pokémon qualifies when either type matches.

Can I generate only Legendary or Mythical Pokémon?

Yes. Use the Category filter to include all Pokémon, exclude Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, or generate from either category only.

What does Shiny mode do?

Shiny mode shows available Shiny artwork for each result. It does not simulate in-game Shiny encounter odds.

Can I hide Pokémon names or pictures?

Yes. Open Advanced Filters and hide names, pictures, or both. Use these options for a “Who’s That Pokémon?” quiz or guessing game.

What data does each result show, and does it build movesets?

Each card shows the Pokédex number, generation, types, abilities, base stat total, all six base stats, and available artwork. The generator does not choose moves, items, natures, EVs, or IVs.

Can duplicate Pokémon appear in a team?

The generator does not repeat the same species within one team. Different species from the same evolution family may still appear.

Why did the generator return no results?

Your filters may leave too few matching Pokémon. Remove a filter, widen the BST range, clear the ability field, or generate fewer Pokémon.

Is every Pokémon equally likely to appear?

Within an unconstrained matching pool, entries are not weighted. The generator uses a seeded shuffle and does not repeat species within one team. If No repeated types is enabled, each later pick must also avoid the types already used.

Can I filter by a specific game or use the results for Pokémon Champions?

Not directly. Generation filters by when a species was introduced, not by a game’s Pokédex. For Pokémon Champions or another game, check the current roster, moves, and battle rules before using a generated team.

Does this random Pokémon generator use a wheel?

No. It uses a Generate button instead of a spinning wheel. You can generate one Pokémon or a full team and narrow the pool with filters.

Is this a Pokémon ROM randomizer?

No. This site selects existing Pokémon from a database. It does not download, patch, or modify a game or ROM.

Is this a Pokémon AI generator?

No. It selects existing Pokémon from PokéAPI data. It does not create Fakemon, new names, or AI-generated artwork.

Can I share the same result with a friend?

Yes. Copy the share link to preserve the exact team, seed, and active filters. Recent rolls are also saved locally in your browser.
